Art Thinking Seminar: 3 days of inspiration, self-examination and self-questioning for tomorrow's territories

May 03, 2023

From April 19 to 21, 2023, 54 students in the IMPGT's Public Management Master's program took part in an Art Thinking Seminar: Improbable. They explored the improbable in the manner of artists, with a view to transforming public management and regional development. Led by Sylvain Bureau, one of the co-founders, it was a first for a French university.

After 6 lectures, 6 workshops and critique sessions, the students put all their energy, without counting the hours, into creating 11 contemporary works of art that made full sense to them on different issues: water preservation, global warming, the limits of digital technology and AI, school bullying, youth employment discrimination, wartime fakenews and finally the democratic crisis.

The fruit of these three intense days of reflection and creation was the subject of an ephemeral exhibition "Regards (improbables) sur les territoires de demain" at the Non-Maison, an art venue in Aix-en-Provence. Nearly 100 people attended the opening. They took part in the interactive works (videos, photos, demonstrations, etc.) with great interest and enthusiasm, making the students and the organizing team proud.

Congratulations to the students! Many thanks to Sylvain Bureau, founder of Art Thinking, and Michèle Cohen of La Non-Maison.
