On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Eric Berton, president of Aix-Marseille University, was joined by Christophe Alaux, director of the IMPGT, his team, members of Mr. Fouchet's family, graduates and students to inaugurate this space in tribute to its founder and honorary dean from 1996 to 2012. After the speeches, a new front of the amphitheater entrance was unveiled, symbolizing the officialization of its new name.
Mr. Robert Fouchet, Emeritus University Professor, left us on April 28, 2022. He was one of the three founders of the Institute of Public Management and Territorial Governance in 1996, with Jean-Rodolphe Lopez and Jacques Bourdon. He was also its director for 16 years. Since 2016, he advised the Presidency of the University on his lifelong passion, culture. Throughout his career, he has put this considerable energy at the service of the University, the students and the culture.
On a daily basis, the Robert Fouchet amphitheatre welcomes students for lectures, exams or researchers for scientific conferences. On a more occasional basis, other external audiences can come to the amphitheatre for cultural events such as the master classes of the Festival d'Art Lyrique d'Aix-en-Provence or the conferences of the Festival des Ecrivains du Sud.
