Master 2 'MDOMC' students: in the role of cultural entrepreneurs

June 17, 2024

As soon as they enter the Master's program in Management and Law of Cultural Organizations and Events (MDOMC), students take on the role of cultural entrepreneurs, carrying out various assignments that enable them to put the skills they have acquired into practice and come face to face with the realities of the field.

Following the success of the OTACC Chair's Cultural Days last May, the Master 2 MDOMC students completed all their assignments during their last week of teaching at the IMPGT.

The first of these was with the Cité de la Musique de la Ville de Marseille, as consultants. Over the course of a year, the class provided consultancy services to this cultural organization, carrying out a strategic assessment of its roles in the area. They presented the initial results and ideas for improving practices to the Cité de la Musique team: Éric Michel, director of the Cité de la Musique, Marcelo Datena, administrator, Sandrine Guez, communications manager, Yolaine Callier, schools coordinator.

Then, the second in the OTACC Chair incubator as project managers. They had two years to create, implement and evaluate a cultural project in the Aix-Marseille region. Accompanied by a team of coaches, a total of 10 projects saw the light of day, ranging from music festivals to intergenerational writing and radio workshops: Chaud au Cube Festival, Culture Connexion, EKTÒS, Encre-nous! Festart, Collectif Galinettes, Spectra , Les Mots Croisés, Mirabilis, KOSMOPOLEI. Finally, an eleventh project-team was particularly committed to inclusion in societal transition projects.

These projects were presented to a jury of professionals including Benoit LAISNEY, Vincent Mazer, ROUGI Rachida and Pape Cheikh Ndiaye on Tuesday June 11.

Finally, the third project was presented to FRAC Sud, to close the year, during a "Jeu Grandeur Nature". They had 3 days to work with this structure on the development of the 2nd Biennale de la Joliette, a cultural event which is concerned with its territorial roots, and which places the logic of co-construction and reappropriation of urban space at the heart of its strategic thinking. Each group was given a concrete mission to tackle, ranging from communications and mediation tools, to financial diversification, co-construction strategy, artist companies and the reappropriation of urban space by the cultural offer.

At the end of a work phase, they formalized their thoughts in a deliverable such as a feasibility file, and presented their ideas to a jury made up of the project leaders and members of the OTACC Chair's teaching team.

Congratulations to the students on a job well done!
